Hi Friends, a new year has arrived and it's time to start fresh. We've used the last year and a half working on getting to know ourselves better. We've defined our values, and looked inward. We've worked on our mental well being and learned how to recognize when and where we are struggling. This year I would like to add another layer to our journey and bring our attention to our physical well-being. Seeing the changes we need to make physically is not always easy but being in touch with our mental health is a great start. These two parts of us go hand in hand. Without one the other is impossible to achieve. Think of your health as if you were a house being built, your mental health will be your foundation, your physical health will be the materials your frame is composed of "the bones" and your relational health will be all the beautiful additions added to you that make a house a home. I believe mental health is the most important part of health because I believe it is often tied to spiritual health, this is your foundation. Once you have awareness for your mental health now you have a slab of which means you can start to build, but even though you have a slab it does not equal a home. So you could camp on it or lay a sleeping bag out and lay on it but you won't have any physical protection from storms that could cause you bodily harm. If your only focused on your physical health your walls will eventually sink, and if you try to put all the pretty things in your house without the walls or on sinking walls they will eventually fall off. Don't worry if you've started building your house out of order sometimes it's the beautiful pretty things for the house that motivates us to build the house in the first place. I've learned over the years that our work lives, and personal lives are not separate even if we try to live them that way, the same is true of our mental and physical health. For long term results one depends on the other. Let's continue this journey of growth, when we get better we help others get better.
